Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheets Ireland | Plastic Sheets
In this video we outline the steps involved when assembling a roof using multiwall polycarbonate sheets.
Access Plastics and 365plastics.ie, our online store, provide a Free cut to size service on all multiwall polycarbonate sheets.
We will not only cut the multiwall polycarbonate sheet to the required sizes, we also blow out the sheet to ensure that all plastic sawdust and plastic swarf is clear of the sheet. When that is completed we will apply a solid tape to one end of the sheet and a vented tape to the other end to protect the sheet. All our sheets arrive to you door, ready to be fitted.
In the above video, we explain the complete roofing assembly process, including placement of the roofing gasket and capping bar. The capping bar comes across the joint and the fixing screws, usually 60mm long, are placed into the pre-drilled holes.
For rafters where sheets are not been butted edge to edge, there is no need for a capping bar to be used, a simple use of a fixing button will cover the job.
It is important to use neutral curing silicone, as acetoxy silicone may attack the polycarbonate sheet.
When the sheeting is in position and the roofing is almost completed, it is necessary to achieve a water tight seal between the house wall and the multiwall polycarbonate sheet. This is achieved by using a butyl backed lead flashing, which is available in white and lead colour.
