This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko 188A. This is a piece of extruded aluminum in a mill finish and it is called an elevator. This is literally a bar of aluminum and is used to elevate a threshold. There is a variety of installations you are going to use such a thing. You can have a disparate sort of flooring condition and you have a saddle type threshold. Well, you are about a 1/2″ short on one side so you can use that saddle threshold and then use this 1/2″ elevator, and they make it in different sizes, so that the threshold can sit right into this area and if you can study the end of that a little bit, you can see that there is a raised profile to it here that the threshold can rest and butt up to this lip and that will become a piece of the threshold. You can have an offset threshold; however the combination of different floor surfaces is incompatible with all existing normal thresholds offset thresholds so you can use an elevator to compensate. Anywhere where you need to create a custom installation or to navigate an unusual circumstance, an elevator is considered something that is typical. Pemko has other elevators, lets talk about the other elevators now. They are available certainly in different finishes. The A means mill aluminum finish. You will be able to do this in a D finish which is a dark bronze anodized. You are going to be able to do this in a gold anodized aluminum finish. You will be able to do these in solid bronze as well. So the same item made of architectural bronze, some people call it brass, it is okay to call it either, and then in different finishes of the architectural bronze. Mill finish on architectural bronze, satin finish, polished finish, and then oil rubbed bronze finish. The elevators come in different sizes. 1/4″ will be the 183 is the part number, then you will do your letter for finish after that. I have not mentioned all of the finishes yet. You have mill finish, solid bronze, bright dipped gold which is a shiny metallic finish, the D finish for dark bronze, the G finish for gold which is a matte gold, and then the SN finish for satin. You are going to do a 1/4″ riser or elevator and the 183 is the part number. You can use the same 183 and flip it on its end to obtain a 3/8″ rise, then of course you have the 282 which is a wider version of the 1/4″ then in the 1/2″ you’ve got the 188 and then the wider version of the 188 which is the 283 so those are all of the different elevators that you can do from Pemko. Dimensionally, there is an image below this video showing the dimensional properties. The important thing is of course that 1/2″ which is from the face to the bottom, then it is 3/4″ wide at its base. So 1/2″ from the plateau where the threshold would sit to the bottom and then 3/4″ width. Now the question is how much further over of that 3/4″ are you going to have consumed? You can see that you are going to take up about 1/4″ of space. So lets say from this plane to the outside plane here about a 1/4″ then maybe 3/8″, then maybe 1/8″ over here. The name Pemko is synonymous with all things weatherstripping related. Not only a piece of accessory hardware like an elevator, but all thresholds and commercially available thresholds made of aluminum, brass, stainless steel, perimeter gasketing, door sweeps, they have a comprehensive offering of residential weatherstripping as well. There is a complete list of important links below this video to the manufacturer’s page where you are going to be able to pull up not only the full line product catalog but some other helpful links from Pemko, some templates for their astragals and then of course a listing of all of the Pemko items that we sell, and finally a link to their manufacturer’s website. Any questions on the 188A Mill Finish 1/2″ rise commercial threshold riser or elevator or any other Pemko product please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you.
