The main material of PVDF is polyvinylidene fluoride resin; the utmost negative characteristic of the Fl atom can form a very strength high powerful Fl-C bond. Moreover, with the special symmetry molecule structure, the products are of strong weather resistance performance, anti-ultraviolet performance, super long durability and anti-corrosion performance, which can maintain very bright and glossy color even serving for 20 years in indoor environment. Attributing to the abrasion resistance and impact resistance and flexibility, our products are of excellent mechanical processing performance. PVDF coated aluminum coils are the highest priority of choice to high class aluminum composite panels, and its composite products are widely used in airport, exhibition center, administration center, star hotel and other symbol building.
Application for Polyester/PVDF Prepainted Aluminum Coil:
Suitable to construct curtain walls, ceilings, store faces, wallsand cellular panels
Using the lathe to square up a block of 4140 steel mounted in the 4 jaw chuck. I am using a HSS bit that I ground to a somewhat generic turning profile. Because of the large 3″ max radius of this work piece I operated the spindle at 200-300 rpm’s for various sides. I chose to use high speed steel instead of carbide because if the choppy cutting against the square edges.
The part turned out ok. The surface finish is rough, which is something I will have to work on in the future. This was just roughing in the material so it will not matter as there is a tremendous amount of machining to go here.
After squaring up the block I proceeded to bisect one end, scribing a line down the exact center. Video is here.
After dividing it I then used the optical center punch.
This old lathe is a Jet BD-1340-R which has a 13″ swing, and is 40″ between centers. This is also a gap-bed lathe which means a section of the bed can be removed near the headstock allowing work up to 18″ diameter to be turned. It has a 2HP single phase motor which can run off 110v or 220v. I am using 220v and running with the back gear engaged, which clatters a bit.
Using the Copper Plate and the Rainbow Torch solution we demonstrate how to create a copper and torch finish on steel.
