This video is to bring you a closer look at the Reese S482A. This is a half saddle threshold. Hopefully your first impression is the same as mine. This is a mighty thick piece of aluminum for a half saddle threshold. The S482 is representative of the profile of a half saddle threshold. The A means mill aluminum finish. You can also get this in the D finish which would be dark bronze. You can also get this as the AS or DS which would have an inserted piece of silicone. You are going to use something like this if you are going to transition from tile up to an application where you would use this. If it is a bump up style threshold you are going to add the S to the part number and bump up against this. There is an image below this video showing everything important about the item. You can see the width is 2-7/16″ wide and the height is a very common 1/2″ tall. This happens to be a 3′ piece and it is available in all of the common lengths. If you have need for a custom length, by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicate in the comment field what length you would like for us to cut the material back to. Imagine if this was a 4″ piece and you had to cut it down to 42″ you would eliminate that countersink that is there. If you order a custom length we would not only locate the first countersink from the proper distance from the edge but the proper center to center as well. Screws are included in a complementary finish. It is nice to have the countersink from the factory because it gives you a nice proper sort of installation when it is countersunk. You might be able to cut that down and drill the hole, but sometimes the countersink is a bit more challenging and gives that flathead screw somewhere to really reside in and give you a nice long lasting and reliable and predictable installation versus just drilling a hole and putting it down. Again, it is going to be used in applications where you want to bump something up to it or transition two different floor surfaces and this piece will do it. If you add the silicone seal to it now you have a bump up threshold. There is a link below the video to a product brochure which will allow you to review this and Reese’s sister products where it comes to offset thresholds. There is a link below this video as well to the manufacturer’s page where you can pull up the full line catalog where you can review all things Reese weatherstripping related. They make obviously thresholds, perimeter gasketing, door sweeps, material made of aluminum like this, stainless steel, architectural bronze. I’m partial to Reese and it is because they have industry leading ship times and customer services. It is that first impression. Their material always seems to be heavier when you hold it. It is because of the thicker extrusion. I personally believe it is something they don’t market enough and should put first and foremost that our material is in general thicker than everyone else’s. I believe it based on the scores of Reese items that I have reviewed. Any questions on the Reese S482A half saddle type threshold or any other Reese product, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you.
